easing uncertainty by limiting how far we look into the future, colour digital, 2014

observation of our weather systems is a twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty five days a year, necessity. simplistic in their delivery, and complex in their creation, weather forecasts contribute to the day to day decision making of the general public.  accuracy in weather prediction is largely based on the length of the forecasts developed by meteorologists. ireland’s latitude makes it difficult to put a shape on the weather beyond forty-eight hours.

this project explores the space in which information on irelands weather is processed, analysed and prepared for public consumption.

the abundence of data produced is phenomenal and this is evident when looking at the archives below met éireann headquarters. it is physically possible to become lost in services history as everything processed, printed, analysed and broadcast remains on site.
